Cullins Service Leaf Removal Corrigated Plastic Leaf Diverter

Cullins Service is always looking to get the job done more effectively and efficiently without jeopardizing the quality of the work. That and we like to play w/ heavy equipment, but what guy doesn’t. This year we added 2 Redmax EBZ8500’s attached the leaf plow to our new Wright Stander I. We also acquired a Ford F350 and fitted it w/ a EZ-Dumper then turned it into a leaf catcher. Along w/ our Scag Giant-vac on our trailer we are doing good While we loved the van this way is much more efficient. Instead of taking 20 min to 1/2 an hour it now takes us 5 mins to dump. Our Leaf Removal setup changes all the time and is fairly unique, but effective. This year we have effectively cut our Leaf Removal jobs by more than 1/2. This time around we decided to try these leaf diverters made of corrugated plastic panels. We were sick of trying to blow large amounts of leaves through small openings. So the diverters kind of funnel them into the place we want without them getting stuck.

We started this property late in the day so we ended up doing some night leaf removal or night scagging. It was a good thing we mounted super bright L.E.D. lights on the wright stander I and the Scag giant-vac. We also had to come back the net day to finish up the other side of the yard.

The backpack leaf blower we are tuning up today is a Husqvarna 150BT Backpack Leaf Blower. But the techniques I will show you can apply to most leaf blowers.
Keeping your equipment in top shape is not only good for your equipment, but also good for your business. You want your blower to start up right away every time. Take care of your equipment and they will take care of you.

What You will need:

-Backpack blower
-Spark Plug (check owners manual for correct part)
-Fuel Filter (check owners manual for correct part)

DIY How to change oil on a stand behind mower the Wright Stander by Cullins Service

In business and life you should always protect your investments. In a  landscaping business your equipment in an investment. So that means you have to take care of them. When you get a new or used piece of equipment you should study or at least look at the owner’s manual. There is a maintenance section of that manual, and in that section is a time table for oil change maintenance. Oil changes are very important in all engines so change your oil. You need to check your oil after every use. Over time heat breaks down oil and the longer it’s in the engine the dirtier it gets. Depending on mowing conditions your mower is kicking up dust, dirt and debris this will make the oil dirtier and less effective sooner. When this happens the oil no longer lubricates the engine components.

Cullins Service Oil Change Wright Stander i remove oil filter

Cullins Service Oil Change Wright Stander i remove oil filter

The Mower we are giving an oil change to today is a 2015 36 inch Wright Stander Intensity. The techniques I will show you can apply to other similar mowers.

Between the first 5-10 hours of your engines life you should change the oil and oil filter.
With new engines changing the oil within the fist hours of operation is needed to flush out small particles that build up during the break-in period. Check your manual for regularly scheduled oil changes. They will vary from source and the conditions you put you mower through.
It’s best to check your oil regularly.
When you first pour the oil into the engine it’s a gold or amber color. Eventually heat, dirt and air in the crankcase will make the oil darker and less effective in lubricating engine components.
Check your oil and if it’s low or getting dark and nasty add oil or change it.

We at Cullins Service believes that if you take care of your equipment that it will take care of you. Same thing   w/ customers and well pretty much everything else in your life. So if you get anything out of this entry take those words of wisdom and apply them to your life. Anyway lets now apply them to your chainsaw.

This chainsaw is a Echo CS 330T. It’s a top-handled 14 inch climbing saw. She has been very good to us, and there is nothing more I like to do than keep her in good shape. This time it’s cleaning her up, checking er over for worn or broke parts, sharpening the chain, and checking the depth gauge. I’m performing these tasks on a Echo CS 330T, but the same principles apply to most chainsaws in general.

Cullins Service sharpening chain w/ hand file

    • -A 6 inch flat file
    • -A file guide (Helps hold the file at the correct height and orientation)
    • -A depth-gauge
    • -A Vise or A stump vise

Cullins Service Landscape Design Weeding Patio and Filling w/ Stone Dust Needham

Cullins Service Landscape Design Weeding Patio and Filling w/ Stone Dust Needham property.

This is a great way to bring your stone or brick patio back to beautiful. We took our Echo GT-225 Trimmer and Echo PAS-266 w/ trimmer attachment to wack the weeds protruding from the bricks. Then Cullins Service Landscapers turned our trimmers sideways to clear in between the bricks. This process takes a while, but in my opinion it does the job faster than other methods. It also looks great after and goes deep enough to dig up the weeds root system. It also creates a gully for the stone dust to fit in. After we cleared the weeds we blew the debris of w/ our Echo PB-250 Blower. Finally we dumped the stone dust down and pushed it around w/ a wide broom until all the cracks were filled. After the stone dust is put down the bricks look dusty, but that will go away w/ the first rainfall or you could lightly spray the patio w/ a hose. I think this project came out great. What do you think?

Cullins Service Landscape Weeding, Clearing, Edging and Mulching Wellesley Property pt 2

This is part 2 of our edging and mulching job at our massive Wellesley property. We already trimmed and shaped the bushes on this area now we were ready to clean out leaves, dead plants and other brush. Cullins Service also cleared overgrowth and dirt from the stone steps on the hill. We had to be careful not to disturb and cover the ground cover and large stones. After the edging and putting down the black mulch it made the hill look great.

We also had an overgrown island that came out beautiful. The island really didn’t have any defined lines. So when we edged Cullins Service landscapers were able to give the flower bed island a unique shape. After we weeded cleared it out and edged it it was starting to shape up

nicely. This is the kind of landscaping I like to do. Basically taking something like this and making it look great. After we put down the mulch Cullins service placed rocks randomly throughout the bed. The light colored rocks really popped against the dark mulch. That and the green hostas the island bed looked awesome.

Cullins Service Landscape Cutting Grass, Weeding, Trimming Trees and Bushes Jamaica Plain Property

Cullins Service acquired this property this year and it has become a regular. We had already done an initial cleanup now we are doing routine maintenance. This time though we have some tree work to do.

First Cullins Service weeded out the front flower bed. We also removed some old bushes, and trimmed dead parts off a few bushes to clean them up. In the back yard he had a tree with a broken branch and some other branches that were to heavy. They were leaning down so much they were touching the grass. So to start we cut the broken branch off. We then strategically cut branches off the low hanging branches to lessen the weight and raise the branches up. We wanted the cuts to be effective without making the tree look like it was just chopped up it has to look natural. We cut a few more low hanging branches in the backyard the cut the grass real nice with our Turf Beast 54 in. 22 HP Subaru Commercial

Duty, Dual Hydro Walk Behind Finish Cut Turf Mower w/ floating deck.
Finally we trimmed some more low hanging branches that were hanging over the sidewalk. Cullins Service then cleaned all debri, grass, leaves, weeds and branches. Another job we can be proud of.
