This Client wanted to put his property on the market. But first they wanted to add some curb appeal. When trying to sell your property curb appeal is one of the most cost effective ways to add value to your property. The first thing prospective buyers see when arriving is the yard. Trimming bushes, removing bushes, planting bushes or flowers, edging, mulching adding sod for an immediate beautiful lawn are a few ways to make your property more appealing to a home buyer.

On this property we removed a couple out of control bushes and planted some beautiful Rhododendrons and

green wave yews. We used a Toro Dingo to remove the old bushes and an auger bit to dig the holes to plant the new shrubs. After the shrubs were properly in the ground. Yes there is a proper way way to plant shrubs. We edged the bed with our EZ-Trench Bededger then Mulched the beds.

Now it was time to prep the ground and lay down some sod. We had to remove all vegetation. Some use a vegetation killer, dig it up or till everything and rake it up. We decided using our Turfco Kiscutter sodder was the best and quickest way for us. We then got to try out our new

Husqvarna DRT900H tiller. We tilled the area and removed any leftover vegetation and rocks anything that would prevent the grass roots from thriving. Now it was time for the Ford to drop some organic loam compost mix. This will give the grass nutrients and good drainage. Not done prepping yet we graded out the area with our razor back rake grader. Finally before laying down anything we put down some fertilizer and adjusted the Ph. Now we wait for the sod delivery. You have to time everything because you want to lay the sod as soon as it arrives. When the sod arrived we immediately started meticulously laying and cutting. After that we set up a simple watering system and stood back to enjoy the

Spring Clean up Edging and Mulching in Needham

This was a spring cleaning w/ edging and mulching from a great customer we did leaf removal for last fall. We removed leaves from a wooded area in the back and pine needles from all over the yard. Anyone who has tried to remove pine needles knows it’s not easy, but the results turned out great. That is what this job is all about. We cleaned out all the beds and under the bushes.

After the spring cleaning we edged the bush, border and flower beds. I like edging it really defines the beds, it looks great, holds the mulch in and prevents weeds from creeping into the beds. The black mulch looks great in contrast to the green bushes and bright colors of the flowering bushes on this property. Mulching always looks good and you can’t go wrong w/ black. Other colors of mulch are good, but you have to visualize the mulch colors and the surrounding colors. Anyway I was happy w/ the results of this landscaping adventure and so was the client. This gentleman was a neighbor of the house next door. He needed a landscaper and we were in the right place at the right time. He wanted to sell his house and his realtor recommended some curb appeal. Look it up curb appeal helps to sell your house. If your home’s curb appeal makes a great first impression, everyone — including potential home buyers will want to see what’s inside.

This client didn’t want to go crazy, but he wanted it to look good. We started trimming the trees away from his house. You always want to keep tree branches at least 12 – 19 inches away from your house. You could scratch and damage the house and insects and rodents can easily get into your house, just to name a few. We also removed some branches of the neighbors that was coming over into his yard. We also trimmed a tree to open up his driveway area. Finally we removed a dead pear tree that his grandfather had planted many years ago, and that was it for tree work. Of course we used the echo CS 330T and our new Stihl MS 193T.

We then removed all leaves, debris and bushes that were to be removed. We also trimmed up some bushes and tied some ups well. We weeded out the flower bed and god rid of all the clutter. I wanted the flowers and bushes to pop, not be lost in a mess. After the cleanup we started planting the flowers and bushes. We wanted to add color to the flower beds.

The realtor didn’t want anything done to the grass, so we could only mow it. Oher than 4that the house looks great and is now on the market.

This is part 2 of our edging and mulching job at our massive Wellesley property. We already trimmed and shaped the bushes on this area now we were ready to clean out leaves, dead plants and other brush. Cullins Service also cleared overgrowth and dirt from the stone steps on the hill. We had to be careful not to disturb and cover the ground cover and large stones. After the edging and putting down the black mulch it made the hill look great.

We also had an overgrown island that came out beautiful. The island really didn’t have any defined lines. So when we edged Cullins Service landscapers were able to give the flower bed island a unique shape. After we weeded cleared it out and edged it it was starting to shape up

nicely. This is the kind of landscaping I like to do. Basically taking something like this and making it look great. After we put down the mulch Cullins service placed rocks randomly throughout the bed. The light colored rocks really popped against the dark mulch. That and the green hostas the island bed looked awesome.

Driveway crack fill and seal Dorchester Property

Driveway crack fill and seal Dorchester Property

Cullins Service went to Dorchester to seal a driveway and fill in some cracks. First we edged and gained a few inches on either side of the driveway. Then we removed all debris, sand, dirt, mulch, rock dust and anything else that was on the driveway. Cullins Service Landscapers cleared all sides to define clear edges.

Then one of us took a brush and sealed all around and up the driveway on all edges. Then we spread the sealant all around all way up the driveway.

Cullins Service came back to make sure the job was done right. We had a few touch ups. The driveway as you can see looked great a big improvement. We filled all the cracks and sealed over them. In new England if you have cracks in your driveway or streets the water will get into them then freeze in the winter. Causing even bigger cracks. Now this customer will not have to worry about that.

This property belonged to a very nice lady. She had called Cullins Service in search of Landscapers to get her property back in shape , and was very happy w/ the results Cullins Service provided her. She is now a permanent customer. She has also referred us to others.

Cullins Service removed leaves, weeds and other debri from the yard.  The tree out front had a branch broken from a storm so we removed that. The customers Dogwood trees also needed some love. We cut some lower branched that were just out of place. There were some dead branches that needed pruning, and some branches that were not growing in the  right direction. Finally we cut some of the low hanging branches to as they say “lifting the shirt” of the tree. You don’t have to cut the whole branch off. Just cut a few of of the branch ends off. It will lessen the weight at the end and lift the whole branch up. You don’t want the tree to look pruned. Make it look natural.

The biggest difference was made w/ the bushes. Cullins Service used our Echo HC-152 – Hedge Trimmer with 20″ Blades to trim and shape them up. We shaped up the bushes real nice. It made a big difference. We pruned the back of the massive Rhododendron’s away from the house. Always keep a few feet from trees, bushes and other shrubs from your house. It’s a great way for insects and rodent to get into your home. We also cut way back some bushes on the side of her house.

As you can see by the pics this property looks much better thanks to Cullins Service landscaping.

Cullins Service Landscape Design Pea stone Slate Rock Path Needham Property

This was an especially rewarding Landscape Design. Cullins Service Landscapers took an old slate stone path were the slate stones were 75 – 90% covered in grass, and created a stunning pea stone / slate stone path.

We started by digging up the slate stone. Then cut in lines parallel to each other 20 inches apart. Then we removed the turf, soil and roots. After cleaning up the edges making a nice sharp wall on either side we put down filter cloth to prevent any weeds to come up through the pea stone. After filling the path in some Cullins Service cut the filter cloth so it could not be seen, but covered the bottom and sides. We then shimmied the original slate stones into the pea stones and filled the path all the way up w/ the pea stones.

After the Landscape design project was completes we tied up the customers bushes so there would be a clear path all the way to the back. Not only were Cullins Service happy w/ the finished project our customer loved it, and that makes it all worth it.

This was a beautiful property in Needham that needed just a little work. Cullins Service trimmed and shaped the bushes and edged the front and sides in the back. We put down black mulch in the edged beds. Then we cleaned out some flower beds and put down mulch in them as well. Cullins Service finished it off by removing some built up dirt from some of the brick walk way on the side. When it was finished the property looked great. It’s always the little things.
